News: Schuyler Falls Record

The first citizen of Schuyler Falls to die in the Revolutionary War was Joseph Quickly, a farmer who marched 120 miles in order to fight in the Battle of Saratoga in 1777.

Both of Joseph's sons also died fighting the British. Wife Elizabeth raised their surviving seven daughters alone - one of whom, Martha, was the great-great-great grandmother of current Mayor Daniel Burroughs.
